Mission Statement

To provide holistic programs supporting the empowerment of young adults at risk of homelessness by facilitating the shift from a scarcity mind-set to a belief system open to possibilities.

Do You Know?

1200 – 1500 teens “age out” of the foster care system in Texas each year.  In North Texas it costs an average of $40,000 in community services each year for each chronically homeless person.

NTGD was a huge success thanks to YOU!

October 5, 2016

To everyone who donated to the Lightening Alliance on North Texas Giving Day held Sept. 22, we’d like to say, “Thank you!”

North Texas Giving Day organizers are tallying the final amounts of funds raised, which will be announced later this fall.

While we wait to receive final results, we’re happy to announce that the Lightening Alliance did receive enough donations to fund at least four months of programming with the North Texas Job Corp in McKinney!

We’ll post final donation results on our website in the very near future.

Again, thank you for supporting the Lightening Alliance.

North Texas Giving Day Is Around The Corner

August 28, 2016

Mark your calendars — Sept 22 is North Texas Giving Day!

This online fundraising event raises money for nonprofits across North Texas. $119 million has been raised by NTGD in the past seven years. And last year, $33 million was raised benefiting 2,020 nonprofits.

This is the Lightening Alliance’s second year as a North Texas Giving Day designated charity, and we are so honored to be included in this regional fundraising event.

You can donate to the Lightening Alliance on Sept 22 by visiting our North Texas Giving Day page.

Thank you for supporting our mission to help young adults secure a brighter future.

Welcome New Agency Partner

July 9, 2016

This past June, we welcomed a new agency partner, Blake’s House.

Young women at risk for homelessness in the Dallas-Fort Worth area have the opportunity to live in a safe environment as they work towards independence.

Our workshop facilitators provide a twice-monthly meal and developmental program for the Blake’s House residents. Lightening Alliance’s founder and certified life coach, Beth Wickman, also provides one-to-one coaching sessions.

We’re currently hard at work identifying additional agencies and nonprofit groups in the North Texas region we can partner with to deliver our services.
