Q: Who is the Lightening Alliance?

A: We are a non-profit organization supported by various community groups and individuals dedicated to helping at-risk teens and young adults.

Our goal is to help the clients of our agency partners transform their “poverty of being” mindset that often leads to unemployment, incarceration and “learned helplessness” into a belief system based on self-worth and love. We believe that with this solid emotional foundation, vulnerable young adults in our community can go on to lead productive lives.

Q: How do you accomplish the goal of personal transformation?

A: We use group workshops and one-to-one coaching models.

Q: Do you provide psychotherapy?

A: Our services are rooted in industry-recognized personal coaching methods; we aren’t licensed therapists.

Q: How does a teen or young adult receive services?

A: We partner with local non-profit agencies that help older teens and young adults. We bring our workshops and coaching to these on-site locations.

Q: Which partner organizations have you worked with in the past?

A: From 2010 – 2016, we worked with The City House in Plano, TX. We’re currently working with Blake’s House in Plano, TX and are working to expand into other agencies.

Q: Do you work with religious organizations?

A: We work with both religious and secular organizations. We’re dedicated to helping at-risk young adults in North Texas from all walks of life.

Q: How many youth have participated in your programs since your inception?

A: 130 and counting!

Q: Are the teens and young adults you work with ever charged for your services?

A: Our services are provided at no cost to our partner agencies. Some agencies may wish to have their clients pay a small fee for personal coaching services just to emphasize the idea of personal investment. Either way, we’re here to help.

Q: Can I get involved with The Lightening Alliance?

Q: Are there any paid staff positions I can apply for?

A: At this time we’re currently an all-volunteer organization.

Q: Do you receive any type of government funding?

A: Not at this time. As we work to grow our impact, we’ll be looking at a variety of funding sources that support our goals.

Q: Do your volunteers go through a background check?

A: Yes, all volunteers are required to pass a background check before they can work with our organization.
