Welcome New Board Of Directors
June 10, 2016
We’re proud to announce that our new Board of Directors is now in place. The professionals who make up the board bring an amazing level of education, experience and expertise in their respective roles.
We’d like to thank the many people who applied for a board position. It was an honor to meet with all of the candidates earlier this year. Eight positions are now filled, making the board complete. The current list can be found here.

Thank you for attending our Fundraising Event!
April 17, 2016
The Lightening Alliance volunteers, Corner Wines staff, and I so enjoyed seeing familiar faces and meeting some new folks!
We netted over $1,000, and those funds will support future Lightening Alliance workshops and coaching for at-risk youth in North Texas.
We also want to thank those who bought wine at the event (a portion of the proceeds went to the Lightening Alliance), as well as people who shared the event announcement on social media.
Best wishes to everyone and again, thank you!
We hope to see you at another Lightening Alliance event soon.

Lightening Alliance Growth!
November 30, 2014
Pardon Our Growing Pains! If you’ve looked at our website lately, you’ve noticed that our team is stretched for time in posting to our blog. We’re a tiny organization, and we’ve been nose to the grindstone this year trying to figure out how to meet the growing needs of young adults in crisis in North Texas. The good news is…
- Our programs have been so successful with our partner agency City House TLP, that 4 additional agencies in Dallas and Collin Counties are asking us to deliver services to the young adult populations that they serve.
- We’ve just completed a Strategic Planning Workshop sponsored by Executives In Action. Now we have a clear path for our own growth to meet those opportunities.
- We’re hosting our first ever fund raising event on January 31, 2015. Come join us and find out how you can make a long term impact on the health of North Texas Communities.
So that’s what we’ve been up to. What have you been up to? If you’re looking for a place to serve, stay tuned. We’ll be publishing a variety of opportunities for you to get involved in shortly… opportunities like updating websites and blog posts, for example, because clearly we need help with that!
Welcome to the Lightening Alliance
December 17, 2013
As 2013 winds to an end, The Lightening Alliance is pleased to be starting 2014 with our very own web-site. If you haven’t already, we invite you to look around and get to know us. Let us know what you think, and if you have any questions.
To get the conversation started with our very first blog post, let me explain our name – the Lightening Alliance. When folks first hear our name, their immediate thoughts turn to “thunder and lightning.” But that’s not us. We are the “Light-en-ing Alliance.” When we formed in 2010, our goal was to become a way of uplifting, and a source of enlightenment for young adults in crisis. As our tag line suggests, we want to “lighten” the load or burden carried by young people struggling to become self-sufficient. Our primary method of doing that is through relationship building. And so we are an ally for our clients.
But that’s not all. It’s not just us. Our business model is to join forces with other agencies and like-minded resources and individuals to optimize our collective goals and talents in service to an often invisible and under-served population. Hence the word “Alliance” in our name. We work not only to build relationships with our clients, but also to build relationships with community resources to serve the broad spectrum of our clients’ needs. And so we are an “Alliance,” a team dedicated to “lightening the load” and bringing enlightened self-awareness to those who are struggling to become our next generation of community members and leaders.
So we welcome you to the Lightening Alliance. Take a look around and see where you fit in. Take a peek at “Beth’s Story” on the Who We Serve page to understand more about the many ways young adults end up in crisis (and no – this is not my story, but thanks for wondering). We invite you to join us. Whether through your service, contributions or prayer, we appreciate your partnership. Here’s wishing everyone a fabulous 2014!
P.S. While he asked not to be recognized, I am compelled to thank Mike Daniels for his incredible work on designing and constructing the beautiful web-site you see before you. We are forever grateful!
